COVID-19 SURGING ACROSS THE USA

Contrary to the perception that Covid-19 transmission is of greater concern during winter, the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that COVID-19 epidemic trends are surging significantly over mid-summer in all 50 states.

Emergency department visits and hospital admissions are ticking upward.

Experts expect viral transmission to continue increasing before reaching a peak around early September 2026.
FREE COVID-19 Vaccine Program Ends
September 30

The National COVID-19 Vaccine Program (NCVP) that allowed for universal free Covid-19 vaccinations will end on 1 October. This will coincide with the transition to the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

Under the NIP, from 1 October, COVID-19 vaccines will only be FREE for:

Adults aged 75 years and over (one dose every six months)

Adults aged 65–74 years (one dose every 12 months)

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50–74 years (one dose every 12 months)

All adults aged 18 years and over with severe immunocompromise (one dose every 12 months).
