Service Description

Typhoid is a serious bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi and commonly spread through contaminated food or water. Typhoid is especially associated with poor sanitation and typical symptoms include fever, body aches, stomach pain, headache, and loss of appetite. If untreated, typhoid can lead to other health complications and result in death. The vaccine is an intramuscular (IMI) formulation and may be administered in combination with other antigens. The typhoid vaccination is recommended for : - People aged 2 years and older - Anyone travelling to typhoid-endemic regions, such as parts of Asia, Africa, and Latin America - Military personnel - Laboratory personnel working with Salmonella Typhi The Australian Government’s National Immunisation Program (NIP) does not currently provide Typhoid vaccines for free to anyone.
