Influenza (the flu) is a highly contagious viral infection that causes significant illness.
Service Description
Influenza vaccines, colloquially known as flu shots or the flu jab, are vaccines that protect against infection by influenza viruses. New versions of the vaccines are developed twice a year, as the influenza virus rapidly changes. Everyone over the age of 6 months is recommended to receive an annual flu vaccination. It's never too late to get vaccinated, but ideally, you should get vaccinated before the peak of the u season, which is usually between June and September. The Australian Government's National Immunisation Program (NIP) provides a free flu vaccines to the following eligible Medicare card holders: - People aged 65 and older - Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy) - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - People aged 6 months and older with certain medical conditions that increase their chance of severe influenza and its complications - Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years old
