When it comes to applying sunscreen, there's more to it than you might think. So, we prepared this quick guide.
Use the right amount:
A full-body application for an average adult requires at least seven teaspoons (about 35ml).
Don't forget key areas:
Be sure to apply to your face, neck, ears, arms, legs, front, and back of the body.
Allow time to absorb:
Apply 20 minutes before going outside to give the sunscreen time to bind to the skin and create a protective barrier.
It's important to know how often to apply sunscreen.
Every two hours: Sunscreen effectiveness can diminish over time.
After water or sweat: Reapply immediately after swimming, engaging in sports, sweating, or towelling off.
It's important to choose the right sunscreen
Select a sunscreen that meets the specific conditions.
SPF 30 or higher: Look for a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or more.
Broad-spectrum: Choose a product labelled "broad-spectrum" to ensure protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
Water-resistant: Use a water-resistant sunscreen when participating in activities that involve water or sweat.
Sun Safety Tips
Check the UV Index: Use sunscreen when the UV index is 3 or higher.
Wear protective clothing: Long-sleeved shirts, pants, wide-brimmed hats, and UV-blocking sunglasses offer valuable protection.
Seek shade: Stay in the shade when the sun's rays are most intense.
Avoid tanning beds: Sunlamps and tanning beds are not safe and can cause significant harm.
